I wandered into the unfamiliar land. The storm had completely washed away everything I had known. My nares flared as I took in a deep breath filled with so many different smells. There had been someone here, but it was long ago. The previous owner had wisely chosen to flee before the storm had gotten to it's worst. Lucky brute, I snorted under my breath. I pawed the ground harshly with a front limb. There was mud, but it was certainly not as bad as where I'd been. My lightly painted pelt was covered in mud. It made me look almost bay instead of light. I snorted at the thought of being a normal color. PPicking up a trot, I moved towards a mud filled lake and attempted to clean myself. The mud in the water made it hard, but at least now it made it easier for some one to tell who I am. I wondered what happened to my femmes. I only had two, but I hoped that they had made it and that we'd cross paths.

I snorted mud from my nares as I staggered to my limbs, stumbling like a new born babe. The mud just sucked at my daggers though, refusing to let me move even a step since last night. My muscles were growing tired and strained and hunger ebbed at every part of me. I sighed, trying to relax before I tried again.
In my sigh I caught a familiar scent. It only took me a few heart beats until I realized who it was. So-Soldier? I called out, my voice a little horse for a moment. Soldier? I called out again, this time my voice louder, clearer.
I tried to pull my diamonds free, but to no success. I snorted loudly in annoyance before I continued to try a few more times, starting to grow desperate to free myself as I struggled in the thick mud. I needed to rejoin with my pink bronco.

My auds pressed forward at her call. Joy? I called out quickly. Instantly, I started moving in the direction that her voice had come from. With every step, the mud grew thicker. I was going back towards where I'd come from, where the flood had been the worst. My limbs moved quickly, but still at a walk. The less time they spent on the ground, the harder it was for the mud to sink them in. It didn't take me long to get to where she'd been caught. I was covering ground rapidly. Try to keep moving. If you keep moving, the mud won't have as much time to pull you in. My own limbs alternated back in forth as I trotted in place looking almost like a top dressage horse. In the ring it was elegant, here it's just survival.

Finally I spotted him. I smiled slightly at him as I tried to reach for him but the mud held me still. Auds pricked at his vocals but I shook my dail. I'm already stuck to the bottom. I've been stuck since last night and I haven't stayed still since, I tried to explain. Before when this started I had foolishly stopped to glance at something near by, before I knew it I was sinking. Then I was stuck. If I wasn't so stupid I wouldn't be in this mistake.
I needed to think of a way out of this. I had an idea but I was too scared to acturally try it. I've had this idea... If I lay down the mud will lose suction and I can get away... But what if I can't get back up? I said, half to myself. The mud was even more slippery underneath the slightly harder crust. I was scared that I wouldn't get any traction and would only succeed in getting stuck on my side, instead of my daggers.

I thought about her lyrics for a few minutes. Laying down and getting back up? It spun through my head as I still moved back and forth in place. It finally hit me. Don't chance it. If you get stuck down, you'll drown in the mud. I thought about it again before finally coming up with a solition. I said nothing as I traveled quickly behind her and threw my weight into her rear. I was extremely careful not to throw her down. I darted to her side quickly to help brace her just in case. My theory was that she would stumble forward and be able to started moving quickly towards the dry area. I didn't say anything because I knew that even if I'd told her, she'd still have braced herself knowingthat I was coming at her and bracing would only plant her limbs deeper into the mud.

I gave him a questioning look as he went to my rear when he drew closer my auds pinned back. Not liking where this was going already. Suddenly, he pushed at my rear, causing pain to shoot up my fetlocks as the suction was too strong and held my hooves still while my legs were pushed forwards, causing me to let out a squeal. My knees buckled and I nearly fell forwards as I struggled to pull out a limb to catch myself before I fell forwards.
In a flash I spotted Soldier at my side. I quickly reached up and grabbed a mouthful of his mane and lucky was able to catch myself from falling onto my knees. I held on to his locks for a few moments before I was able to get situated and was able to stand on my own.
Once I was I let go of his mane and immediately gave him a shove. Tell me next time you do that! I gave a harsh snort. That hurt too! I glanced down at my hooves, noticing a little more loose mud around my knees where they buckled. At least it was some progress, but not much.

I snorted harshly and mumbled undr my breath. Dammit.. My legs were moving continously. If I got stuck, we were both screwed. If I had to you, you would've braced yourself and we wouldn't have gotten anywhere. My crania tossed before I finally took a front limb and began to paw at where she was burried. Dammit, I'll just dig you out. Maybe I can get enough of the mud moved that you'll be able to wiggle free and make a break for it. I kept pawing and throwing mud every where before I also started using my muzzle to pull at the mud faster. Something.. has.. to.. work.. I growled between swipes at the earth. With every dig, a little mud fell back down, but at least small amounts were being taken away from the area around her.

I snorted in response to him. I braced myself even without you telling me anything, I told him, softer then how my snort sounded. I knew he was trying to help but I wanted to kind of be in on the whole thing. I didn't like finding out until the end.
I watched as he tried to dig me out but I started to grow more concerned for him then myself. Make sure you don't get stuck too, I reminded him with a soft nudge in his shoulder. If my rescuer got stuck and I couldn't help him then his death would be on my pelt. Even if my pelt would already be dead by then.
I had tried to dig my pillars out before when I first got stuck, but every time my daggers were just too far under my form and I felt unbalanced. I didn't want to risk falling. Heck, I couldn't risk falling.

I sighed softly. It would have been worse had I told you, trust me. My front limb still pulled back the earth at a fast pace. Do you feel like it's getting better at all? My breathing was beocming heavy as I dug and kept my own limbs unstuck at the same time. I knew that all it was going to take to get her out was one leg. If she got one out, she could probably get away with lunging forward and springing the rest of them free. Maybe. My painted pelt was again becoming splattered with the mud I'd been throwing, but I tried not to notice. It was adding more weight to my already tired bod, but I still tried not to let it slow down my attempts to get Joy free. Damn mud. I mumbled under my breath as I continued.

I simply snorted in response to his at first before I gave a small nuzzle to his shoulder, letting my forelocks brush against his slightly muddy pelt. A little... Hold on I can pull it out.. I mumbled as I put my dail next to his to make sure my limb wouldn't bonk into him.
I struggled for a few moments, my muscles already starting to burn and strain. I gave up for a few heartbeats before I felt the mud shift and sudden weight come off my dagger. With a hard pull my forelimb came out almost at once. I set it aside, putting my weight onto my other forelimb to prevent my freed one from getting stuck again.
I smiled at him and gave a small nuzzle once more before glancing at my still stuck front pillar. I think I can get the back ones out if you can help me free this one, I told him as I wiggled my knee slightly, trying to push the mud away.

I sighed and quickly moved to her other limb. After pausing for a few seconds to regain some of my strength, I starting pawing the earth again at my same rapid pace. I made sure to be careful not to rebury the first limb or to push more mud onto her back limbs. Mud was flying through the air as I became more swift with my digging, but I was still careful and payed attention to where it was falling. I think it's starting to get there. Do you think it's getting better? Can you wiggle it loose yet? I looked quickly as I pulled at the earth, but my gaze didn't stay there long because I didn't want to blind myself with flying mud. My long tail swished against my side, but it did no good since it was convered in mud and just ended up throwing it all over and making a biiger mess.

Mud splattered against my iron colored pelt. My muscles twitched, trying to send it away, but the sticky mud stayed, going deeper to my flesh to make it uncomfortable.
I shifted my weight to my free limb and tried to wiggle my stuck limb out. It wiggled down to the ankle, lifting the suction and weight from my dagger. I gave a half rear to make sure both forelimbs remained unstuck. Once they landed I tried to take off, jerking my hind daggers free. I cantered a stride or two before I did a quick turn and returned to Soldier. Instead of saying thanks or anything, I simply smiled warmly at him and gave an affectionate nuzzle against his nape.
My legs felt wobbly for a few moments. I could feel them beg me to just lie down and rest but I couldn't stop here, I would just get stuck again. Every now and then I would lift each diamond carefully to make sure it wouldn't get stuck.

I breathed a sigh of relief as I pressed my crania into her nape and nuzzled her. I stayed in that spot for a moment before realizing that we had to move quickly. I turned and looked into the distance. There's hardly any mud at all over that way. I motioned towards a clearing with my muzzle. Just past that, there's some water. It's full of mud too, but it's better than nothing when we're this mud covered. I looked at both of our pelts. This was probably the closest to a normal color that had ever been. Pink, green, white, and even bright red, but I'd never been such a dark shade of brown before. I almost started to like the change, but I knew it wasn't healthy, nor would it last if it started to rain again.

I nodded absent-mindedly. My pillars started to move upon their own accord as I started to make my way over to the land he had indicated. My joints begged me to simply lay down all ready but I had to ignore the pain for now. I shuffled on, my daggers dragging slightly in the mud and my dail hung slightly low with heavy, drooping eye lids.
Finally the mud became noticeably thinner and my orbs opened slightly bigger. My gaze took in the surroundings. A small stream, dirty as the mud, and a slightly broken tree where the land was slightly drier.
With a yawn I went to a broken tree and leaned against it before I took a small step away and laid down, only glancing up once to look at Soldier before my heavy eye lids won out and I was nearly forced into a light slumber.
